Homemade Treats for Dogs with Sensitive Stomachs

Homemade Doggy Treats For Sensitive Stomachs

We all love giving our pups treats, but for those who have sensitive stomachs, we have to get creative. We’ve put together three easy homemade dog treat recipes perfect for your pup with those tummy aches.

Greek Yogurt and Honey Drops

This treat is perfect to refresh your doggy on those hot summer days. Greek yogurt delivers a powerful dose of probiotics to support gut health, while honey brings a touch of natural sweetness. And together, they taste incredible!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of plain Greek Yogurt (unsweetened)
  • 1 tablespoon of Honey

Instructions:

  1. In a medium bowl, stir the Greek yogurt and honey together until smooth and fully combined.
  2. Using a piping bag or small spoon, place small dollops of the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Pop the tray into the freezer for at least 2 hours, or until the drops are entirely frozen.
  4. Transfer the frozen drops to an airtight container and keep them in the freezer. Serve chilled for a refreshing, pup-approved treat!

Blueberry and Spinach Biscuits

These biscuits pack a punch of fiber and antioxidants to support a happy gut, plus a boost of vitamins and minerals every pup can benefit from. They’re as fun to bake as they are for your dog to devour!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup fresh spinach leaves
  • 1/4 cup oat flour

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Toss the blueberries and spinach into a blender and blend until smooth.
  3. In a mixing bowl, stir together the puree and oat flour until a dough forms.
  4. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick on a lightly floured board.
  5. Use your favorite cookie cutter to make the biscuit shape!
  6. Place the biscuits on a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until they’re lightly golden and firm to touch.
  8. Let the biscuits cool completely before treating them to your canine!

Some Extra Tips:

  • Stick to fresh produce! Frozen or canned options may contain added sugars or preservatives.
  • Go easy on the dough! Overmixing can make the biscuits tough instead of tasty.

Salmon and Rice Balls

These tasty bites are packed with fatty acids from salmon, which support healthy skin and a shiny coat. The gentle rice is an easy-to-digest ingredient, making these balls perfect for your pup.

Ingredients:

  • 1 13-oz canned salmon
  • 1 cup cooked white rice
  • 1 large egg

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Cook 1 cup of white rice.
  3. Drain and rinse the salmon well to remove any excess oil or salt it may have been canned with.
  4. Combine your salmon, cooked rice, and egg in a bowl and stir!
  5. Scoop out tablespoon-sized bites and roll them into balls.
  6. Line them up on a parchment-lined baking sheet, ready to bake.
  7. Bake until dry to the touch and firm, about 30 minutes!
  8. Let them cool completely before treating your furry friend to these homemade goodies!
